HP Omen 17 – Specifications, Features, Review & Price

HP Omen 17 is a portable and powerful gaming laptop device that runs on the Intel Core I7 (7th generation) 7700HQ. It has a CPU clock speed of 2.8 GHz that can boost up to 3.8 GHz. GeForce GTX 965m GPU merely powered previous Omen laptop we have seen by Nvidia which made them less or not superior to other gaming laptops then. HP Omen 17 comes with a huge 17.3-inch Offering Ultra HD (4k). The GeForce GTX 1070 GPU in the device is a top up compared to its previous releases.

HP Omen 17 – Build and Display
HP made huge strides on the HP Omen 17 build. On the Lid of the Omen is a metallic ‘Omen’ logo that makes it look unique. Its thickness is 34mm and weights up to 3.35kg. The laptop is obviously big, but look almost same with other gaming laptops when placed on a desk, but noticeable when put in a bag. Despite its bar form, it still feels rigid.

The Omen 17 keyboard is not quite exciting, though it is a full-size keyboard. It has a red backlight that I find lovely and charming separate number keys, but the other keys layout is nothing to write home about. Some Keys, like the arrow keys, are crammed up in the space of a single key. The device has no macro keys nor a way to customise them.

HP Omen 17 features a 17.3-inch Full HD or Ultra HD(4k), IPS, UWVA, 1920 x 1080 pixels and anti-glare screen display. Video quality from this display is fluid and crisp. The size of the screen is wide for an enriching experience, and one would not need an additional TV.

HP Omen 17 – Performance
HP had game enthusiast in mind during their production stage. As we know, performance is what qualifies gaming devices and separate them from other standard laptops. For its price, HP Omen 17 performance is quite insane. The device features an Intel Core I7 (7th generation) 7700HQ coupled with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965m GPU, a 4K G-Sync panel and 16Gigabyte of RAM.

On the storage front, you have the opportunity to choose between 256GB SSD or 1 TB of Storage. There’s also another model with 2 TB hard drive.

Other Miscellaneous Features
The connectivity options available in HP Omen 17 are 2 USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit ethernet, HDMI 2.0 Mini Display Port and an SD card reader. It also includes an inbuilt HD webcam and two analogue audio ports.

Availability and Price
Despite the temperate design of the HP Omen 17, you should not forget that getting a device that’s quite above average as this is good for the price. The HP Omen 17 is now available with starting price of $1600. That is around 560,000 naira in Nigeria, and of course, the price depends on your location too.
